Grand Paradis (Italy)

Grand Paradis combines beautiful landscapes and the fulfilment to reach the top of a 4000 metre summit.
A fairly technical route meant for experienced ski tourers.

Programme :
Day 1: drive from Chamonix to Pont in Val Savaranche where chamois and ibex are often seen grazing. We'll hike up a steep trail in a beautiful larch tree forest up to gentler slopes which will lead us through pastures to the Victor Emmanuel hut (2732 m) (770 m ascent)
Day 2: from the hut, we'll ski up to Tresenta (3608 m) which offers a beautiful viewpoint on Grand Paradis and Ciarforon before skiing back down to the hut. (ascent: 876 m)
Day 3: Round trip ascent to Grand Paradis: a traverse leads to the Grand Paradis glacier. We'll follow its regular incline till the Lavaciau glacier and the Becca di Moncorve pass (3875 m). From there, the slope gets steeper and we'll climb the summit ridge with rope and crampons. From the top of Grand Paradis, a beautiful outlook on the French, Italian and Swiss Alps, we'll ski down the same route back to the hut, then down to Pont and drive back to Chamonix.
